"Walk away from Domestic Violence"

Hello Students,

This Thursday, Oct. 20th @ 6:00pm, there is a special event going on in downtown Scottsville. Lindsey Wilson College in partnership with BRASS (Barren River Area Safe Space) is having the 3rd annual Candlelight Vigil Walk around town to raise awareness of Domestic Violence.

A few facts about Domestic Violence from the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence  (ncadv.org):

  • 1 in every 4 women will experience domestic violence in her lifetime
  • An estimated 1.3 million women are victims of physical assault by an intimate partner
  • 85% of domestic violence victims are women
  • Females who are 20-24 years of age are at the greatest risk of nonfatal intimate partner violence
  • Most cases of domestic violence are not reported to the police
